About me
I am a psychologist specialised in sexual and relationship therapy. I am certified Psycho-Sexologist by the European Society of Sexual Medicine (ESSM) and the European Federation of Sexology (EFS). I am a Senior Accredited Psychosexual Therapist and Accredited Clinical Supervisor by The College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT). I am registered Clinical Psychotherapist with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
I decided to specialise in psychosexual therapy during a lecture on the final year of my psychology degree in Turkey. My professor at the time talked about his clinical experience of working with sexual minorities and, at that point, I decided that this would be the area I wanted to work on. Although I identify as a heterosexual woman, I appreciate difference and diversity due to my own complex origin as a Turkish Muslim, raised in a Greek orthodox society.
I have worked for NHS university hospitals in Sexual Health and HIV clinics for nearly 20 years. I have setup, led and managed psychosexual departments in three teaching hospitals in London.
I have been serving as a committee member at the British Society for Sexual Medicine (BSSM) since 2015. I am also a member of the European Federation of Sexology (EFS) and European Society for Sexual Medicine (ESSM) Psycho-Sexology Accreditation Panel (E.P.S.A.) since 2017. I am a graduate member of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
I hold the following diplomas:
- Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Psychology, Middle East Technical University, Turkey
- Postgraduate Diploma (PgDip) in Psychosexual Therapy, Southbank University, UK
- Master’s in science (MSc) in Psychosexual Therapy, Middlesex University, UK
- PhD in Sexuality and Religion, Anglia Ruskin University
I actively participate in international and national conferences on various topics in sex therapy. I regularly deliver psychosexual training in the UK and abroad.
